Personal Statement

Personal Statement:
I’m always looking for the best way to share how I practice therapy. It’s difficult, because while there are similarities in our emotions and experiences, certainly no theory can capture your pain, and no single technique can heal. I believe successful therapy comes down to your trusting me enough to share your most intimate joys, fears and sorrows. It’s up to me to be present—with my skills, compassion, and intuition—to help guide you through what is often difficult work. And since I believe our relationship greatly influences the success of your work, the first step begins with a call, where you can begin to sense if I feel like a comfortable fit. I work with adults in a general psychotherapy practice, and I also specialize in two areas: 1) Anxiety Disorders & Stress Reduction and 2) Grief Work (Loss from the death of a person or pet, divorce, or life transition). I welcome your call, and I sincerely look forward to helping.

I know it can be scary to reach out for help, especially in a culture that tells us we should be able to solve our problems on our own and, if we can’t, there is something wrong with us. Well, I’m here to challenge that culture that values independence more than interdependence, because as humans we are designed to be connected with others in relationships. And sometimes the first relationship that needs our focused attention is the one we have with ourselves in order to ‘show up’ in our relationships with others.
