Personal Statement

Personal Statement:
I trained with Drs. John & Julie Gottman and work with couples, and families from this research-based approach to strengthen closeness and intimacy and help relationships manage conflicts. I lead couple workshops for couples and for therapists and students wanting to learn Gottman Method. My specialization is working with couples recovering from an addiction.

I’m Research Associate and Co-Founder and Clinical Director of Center for Couples in Recovery at Mental Research Institute, a program dedicated to researching and providing individual and group treatment to couples recovering from addiction. This research led to a model of couples assessment and treatment for recovering couples, called the Couple Reciprocal Development Approach (CRDA). This model has been published and presented at professional conference and workshops.

At the core of many personal issues lie old messages of your sense of worth. Those messages conveyed to you while growing-up that minimized your self-esteem. The journey inward toward your past can often be frightening and disheartening. By slowly revisiting the wounded part of yourself, old repetitive behaviors can cease to exist. A new sense of kindness toward yourself will begin to emerge. Allow me to travel with you to discover what is buried deep inside of your soul, exploring what keeps you from becoming all that you want to be.
