Personal Statement

Personal Statement:
As a solution-focused therapist, my goal is to help you uncover your true potential and lead a life that is worth celebrating. While we can't change difficult situations of the past, we can work together to better understand and resolve challenges in your life. If you're looking for extra support and guidance through a challenging situation or you're ready to move in a new direction in your life, I look forward to working with you to achieve your goals. My specialty is play therapy with children. In addition to verbal communication, I use the aids of games, art, sand, workbooks, and puppets to improve functioning. As a former teacher and middle school counselor, I work well with the schools. I also enjoy working with women on such issues as life transitions, divorce, substance abuse, depression, parenting, balancing motherhood and careers, and other challenges. Approaches are always custom tailored to the needs and goals of individual clients. I have experience with many issues including divorce, foster care, custody changes, child abuse, anxiety, depression, substance abuse, ADHD, developmental challenges, and relationship dysfunction.

At the core of many personal issues lie old messages of your sense of worth. Those messages conveyed to you while growing-up that minimized your self-esteem. The journey inward toward your past can often be frightening and disheartening. By slowly revisiting the wounded part of yourself, old repetitive behaviors can cease to exist. A new sense of kindness toward yourself will begin to emerge. Allow me to travel with you to discover what is buried deep inside of your soul, exploring what keeps you from becoming all that you want to be.
