Personal Statement

Personal Statement:
Psychotherapy is not just about how you feel. It is about a realistic search into who you are and want to be. It is about developing solutions and practicing them in a safe environment.

Though my own therapy, a full life including marriage and parenting of a child (another on the way), extensive training and private practice, preceded by a career as an attorney/CPA, I have evolved a directive, nurturing, non-judgmental approach that fosters insight and solution focus.

A couple for example may want first to understand and change predictable patterns of hurtful behavior. After listening to hear how each person experiences their interactions, I make sense of hurtful behaviors and suggest corrective action. Superficial fixes are avoided.

Support groups for women about personal and work or career-related relationships with men have proven to be a haven for powerful, healing work.

With men, I address business or relationship issues head-on.

At the core of many personal issues lie old messages of your sense of worth. Those messages conveyed to you while growing-up that minimized your self-esteem. The journey inward toward your past can often be frightening and disheartening. By slowly revisiting the wounded part of yourself, old repetitive behaviors can cease to exist. A new sense of kindness toward yourself will begin to emerge. Allow me to travel with you to discover what is buried deep inside of your soul, exploring what keeps you from becoming all that you want to be.
