Personal Statement

Personal Statement:
Feeling stuck in patterns of thinking or behavior that are not working well? Feeling overwhelmed by stress, anxiety or depression? Problems in your relationship? My primary treatment approach with individuals is Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT). You will receive respectful treatment that is informed by research and gives careful attention to your specific needs, strengths and challenges. Between sessions you will have self-help assignments so you end therapy not only feeling better, but with the skills to live better. Studies of CBT have shown it to be useful for a variety of problems, including anxiety disorders, depression, and substance abuse disorders. I also teach stress management, mindfulness practice and meditation, and am a certified hypnotherapist. Hypnosis can improve creative problem-solving and deepen learning. My work with couples is based on the Gottman Method of therapy. The Gottman Method emphasizes teaching couples practical, research-based skills to strengthen and repair their relationships. Due to the challenges of accessing mental health insurance coverage, I see most clients on a fee-for-service basis, and help them get reimbursed by insurance directly. I have a generous scholarship fund, so call for a free 30-minute consultation even if I am not in your insurance network.

Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist
Temecula, CA

I’ve been in private practice in Temecula since 1990. I work with individuals, couples and families on a variety of issues, using a straight-forward approach to problem solving. While I listen with empathy, I am an “active” therapist, meaning I make suggestions, give direction and homework to partner with my clients so they can solve their problems in a timely, effective manner.
