Personal Statement

Personal Statement:
In my work as a play therapist, I have had the opportunity to assist children and families who have experienced anxiety, trauma, foster care and adoptions, divorced or separated parents, and behavioral difficulties at school and home. I implement a variety of play therapy models to best meet each child's individual needs. As a Registered Play Therapist, I have extensive training and experience utilizing play to help children, adolescents, and families to work through difficult feelings and heal in a developmentally appropriate manner. I specialize in working with children ages 2-12, and provide collaborative services with parents, families, and school personnel. As a child centered play therapist, I strongly believe that children have the internal strengths and resources they need to grow, in the context of a healing relationship. I look forward to collaborating with you to best meet your child's needs.

At the core of many personal issues lie old messages of your sense of worth. Those messages conveyed to you while growing-up that minimized your self-esteem. The journey inward toward your past can often be frightening and disheartening. By slowly revisiting the wounded part of yourself, old repetitive behaviors can cease to exist. A new sense of kindness toward yourself will begin to emerge. Allow me to travel with you to discover what is buried deep inside of your soul, exploring what keeps you from becoming all that you want to be.
