Personal Statement

Personal Statement:
I feel fortunate to have worked with children and families in Yolo and Sacramento counties since 1989 in a variety of settings including teaching, research, and counseling. My graduate research in Child Development focuses on effective interventions and developmental supports for children identified with social, emotional, or behavioral difficulties. I focus on supporting healthy development, secure attachments, building upon strengths, increasing self-esteem, providing parent coaching, education and referrals. I also have a passion for working with individual women addressing life transitions, daily stressors, attachment issues, anxiety, loss, grief, depression, self-esteem, and divorce. My developmental approach facilitates exploration of the past, the present and future possibilities. I work to integrate psychotherapy with an increased understanding of human development across the lifespan and how one’s personal history and experience creates a unique and valuable individual. I was born and raised in Santa Cruz, California and have enjoyed living in Davis since 1982.
