Personal Statement

Personal Statement:
Clients can expect. . . a sensitive, active, direct therapist, with a sense of humor. Together, we will investigate the causes for your pain and develop coping strategies that will improve your overall quality of life. My history. . . working with young children in Montessori Education taught me the value of child self-direction and respect. Coordinating a children’s program in a battered women’s shelter I learned the effects of violence, loss, chemical dependency, powerlessness. In a police department providing crisis intervention, I honed skills in child abuse treatment, family and adolescent psychotherapy and developed expertice in dealing with traumatic stress. Today. . . after 19 years of service in private practice, I am optimistic about people’s growth potential and tolerance for adversity. I utilize traditional talk, play, and art in long and short term therapy, and provide professional supervision and consultation.

Pamela J. Blawusch, M.A.

Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist
Carlsbad, CA

I provide a therapeutic environment that allows individuals and couples to explore ideas, beliefs, life experiences, thoughts and feelings that may stand in the way of being who you truly want to be. I can help point out repeating dysfunctional patterns that may exsist in relationships at home, at work and with friends and family.I teach people how to respond in their lives versus getting caught in reacting to personalities and events.
