Personal Statement

Personal Statement:
It gives me great joy to be a therapist. My clients range in age from 3 to 73 and reflect the cultural diversity of the San Francisco Bay Area. I offer Drama Therapy, Expressive Arts Therapy, Somatic Therapy and attachment work with individuals, couples, children and teens. I also offer Embodied Life Story Drama Therapy Workshops, Self-Revelatory Performance Workshops and groups on Women, Food & Feelings. I have developed therapy techniques integrating somatic, expressive and attachment modalities to work with the all-pervasive shame and trauma that underlie eating disorders, addictions and toxic family dynamics. In addition to Drama Therapy and Expressive Arts Therapy, my training also includes Hakomi, Focusing, EFT (Emotionally Focused Therapy), AEDP (Diana Fosha's work), and CBT (Cognitive Behavioral Therapy)/DBT (Dialectical Behavioral Therapy). I work with many concerns including anxiety/depression, relationship issues, life transitions, eating disorders, parenting, grief and loss, trauma, sexuality, abuse and more. I am also the Co-Director of the Center for Healing Shame in Berkeley, CA, a continuing education provider that offers Healing Shame workshops and a full certification and training program to therapists and helping professionals.
