Personal Statement:
Sherrie has worked as a therapist in private practice for several years. She al so provided in-home counseling for Family Preservation DCFS at-risk families. Sherrie provides therapy with a sensitive heart of compassion and an empathic style that reflect some of her own personal experience, as well as professional skill. She integrates Christian principals with therapeutic orientations including attachment theory, psychodynamic, family systems and cognitive behavioral. She has extensive experience working with survivors of trauma, child abuse, victims of domestic violence, grief, codependency and addictive disorders, family dysfunction, anxiety disorders including OCD and PTSD. She welcomes working with individuals, couples, families, children and adults of all ages. Prior to becoming a marriage and family therapist, Sherrie spent many years working in social services providing counseling, case management, living skills, parenting and case management. Her clientele included people with disabilities, spectrum disorders, traumatic brain injury, mental illness and the elderly. She and her husband have three grown children and are blessed with delightful grandchildren. Sherrie draws upon the Lord as the Source, Center, and Wonderful Counselor to guide her and her clients through the healing process.
