Personal Statement

Personal Statement:
I am very passionate about Play Therapy and working with children! I am the current President of the California Association for Play Therapy. Children are more limited in their ability to express themselves verbally, but through play therapy they can show what they think, feel and how they experience and understand the world in which they live. Just as adults talk things out, children play things out. Since play is the natural means of expression for children, toys become their words and play therapy becomes a safe and effective form of therapy for them. My website: www.solplaychildtherapy.com

Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist
San Rafael, CA

My therapeutic style is non-judgmental, supportive, and interactive. My work is based on establishing a safe environment where trust can grow. I view symptoms as a way to call attention to unrecognized needs and unexpressed feelings. The goals of treatment include; learning to identify and express emotions, learning to set appropriate boundaries, developing skills such as self-soothing and impluse control and improving self-esteem.
