Personal Statement

Personal Statement:
I work from the perspective that each person has the ability to heal their own life. I see my role as one of a guide helping people discover those abilities and how to utilize them. My work is born out of a heartfelt compassion for people who are attempting to grapple with the anxiety, depression, fear, addiction, abuse, doubt, or hopelessness they may experience. It can also be difficult to reach out and ask for help, so please know that your courage in looking for support is recognized and deeply respected.

About My Practice

Office Hours
Hours vary - please call or email for further information.
Services
I work with many issues, from relationship issues, abuse, perfectionism/self-criticism, to low self-esteem and coping with chronic illness. If you have a specific challenge you're facing, please don't hesitate to ask about my experience working with it. What is most important is that you feel safe, comfortable, and well understood by the therapist you work with. I offer free telephone consults for you to get a better sense of how I can help. If you have been unsuccessful at resolving a problem, counseling can help you use your innate skills and teach you the new skills you need in order to change your life. Yes, change can be scary, and, I invite you to consider what you could gain by giving counseling a chance...

Patricia Ravitz, M.A.

Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist
San Rafael, CA

My therapeutic style is non-judgmental, supportive, and interactive. My work is based on establishing a safe environment where trust can grow. I view symptoms as a way to call attention to unrecognized needs and unexpressed feelings. The goals of treatment include; learning to identify and express emotions, learning to set appropriate boundaries, developing skills such as self-soothing and impluse control and improving self-esteem.
