Personal Statement

Personal Statement:
I am a licensed Psychotherapist and Certified Personal Trainer (ACE) serving clients under my integrative wellness company, TotalFit Solutions. I serve clients in the Los Gatos, Saratoga, Campbell, San Jose and Morgan Hill Area. I am also a Program Manager at Momentum for Mental Health for Transitional Aged Youth (TAY) and Adult Outpatient Clients. I have a M.A. in Counseling Psychology from John F. Kennedy University. I have specialized advanced training in Family Systems work along with being a Certified W.R.A.P. (Wellness Recovery Action Plan) facilitator. I have advanced training in Wellness Coaching. I write, teach and have facilitated groups on: Integrative Wellness, S.T.E.P. parenting classes, Support Groups on Self Esteem, Healthy Sexuality, Anger Management, Healthy Living, and a Women’s Empowerment Series based on, “The Four Agreements”. I approach my psychotherapy work from within an integrative wellness philosophy. I utilize theoretical orientations from evidenced based practices within the framework of three approaches: Strength Based Therapy, Solution Focused Therapy, and Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT.) I work with my clients to first identify what a truly authentic and passion filled life would be like for them – a process that at times is being considered for the first time. This understanding guides and directs our work together as I believe that all of us hold within us our own intuitive guide on how to navigate this life while experiencing our truest self. We can at times find ourselves our own worst enemies as we place defenses (road blocks) in our own way and sabotage our successes. Our work together identifies the reasoning behind such blocks and finds solutions and internal strengths to overcome such obstacles. I work with individuals, teenagers, couples and families. I specialize in transformational change that encourages healthy balances in work, life, spirituality and growth. My background in fitness, wellness coaching, and psychotherapy brings a unique integrative approach to overcoming issues such as depression, poor motivation, low self esteem, negative body image, anxiety, and feeling out of control and disempowered in your own life. My non-profit work has brought me additional knowledge of working with a diverse population of culturally varied backgrounds from all levels of socio economic classes. For my work to be authentic, I live under the philosophies that I promote with my clients. I left corporate America to find my “true self” and learn how to pursue and listen to my intuitive heart. I found my passion in working with individuals and families to encourage integrative wellness. I love to challenge myself and continue to grow in every opportunity I can. With my partner and two teenagers in tow, I summit mountains, run races, do adventure challenges, practice yoga and live mindfully. My life journey includes: my own path out of an abusive home, growing up the fat girl, and being a high school drop out. I know what it is to find hope when there is no one to guide you. I know how to be a survivor and have learned how to give myself permission within my life to accept, internalize and practice true joy. I have also learned that allowing myself to live an authentic life is not always easy to do. I look forward to meeting you.

My therapeutic style is non-judgmental, supportive, and interactive. My work is based on establishing a safe environment where trust can grow. I view symptoms as a way to call attention to unrecognized needs and unexpressed feelings. The goals of treatment include; learning to identify and express emotions, learning to set appropriate boundaries, developing skills such as self-soothing and impluse control and improving self-esteem.
