Personal Statement

Personal Statement:
I am a Certified Therapist in EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing); my practice focuses on working with trauma victims as well as using emotionally focused therapeutic principles in helping couples. It is my passion to assist people in addressing and resolving struggles (personal and inter-personal) so as to enjoy the fullest, most healthy relationships possible (with self and with others). Having effectively worked with many couples, I have had the joy of seeing people renew the love and emotional intimacy in their relationships, through deepening communication skills and developing new levels of closeness. Also, my training and experience with EMDR has enabled me to help victims of many kinds of trauma overcome the effects of their troubling memories, as well as helping other to enhance their abilities (career, school performance, etc.). In the secure warmth of the counselor-client relationship, many have found the ability to work through their depression and/or anxiety, and walk out into the fresh air of freedom and health. Services are provided in Spanish also, as I am fluently bi-lingual.

Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist
San Rafael, CA

My therapeutic style is non-judgmental, supportive, and interactive. My work is based on establishing a safe environment where trust can grow. I view symptoms as a way to call attention to unrecognized needs and unexpressed feelings. The goals of treatment include; learning to identify and express emotions, learning to set appropriate boundaries, developing skills such as self-soothing and impluse control and improving self-esteem.
