Personal Statement

Personal Statement:
STEVE NAVISKY, MA, MFCC 14618 Tyler Foote Rd. Nevada City, CA 95959 530-470-2338 PROFESSIONAL DISCLOSURE STATEMENT PHILOSOPHY/APPROACH Clear communication, taking risks and taking responsibility for one’s actions and feelings, allow our natural self-healing resources to emerge from within ourselves. I act as a guide in promoting the process of healing and growth in individuals, couples, and families. Using a variety of therapeutic approaches, individuals and families are encouraged to face pain and fear, live in the present moment and not retreat into the past. Thus, we find strength, courage and trust, leading to wholeness, by being whole! Finally, I have found in both my personal and professional life that a belief in a power greater than ourselves, which connects us to our greater SELF, is a key factor in the healing process. We are far more than our physical selves and have experienced this sense of SELF often in times of great trial and/or great joy. I seek to be of service in helping each client to bring forth, in themselves, the wonderful gifts the Universe has to offer. FORMAL EDUCATION & TRAINING I hold a Master of Arts degree in Counseling from Sonoma State University, in Rohnert Park, California. Major coursework included: Family Systems Theory and Practice; Marital/Couples Counseling; Sex Therapy; and both Adult and Child Psychosocial Development. I have certification for extensive attendance in work- shops, seminars and classes beyond the Masters Degree. These include: Chemical Dependency Treatment; Domestic Violence/Anger Management, Adult Attention Deficit Disorder; and Grief and Bereavement Counseling. Additionally, I remain committed to continuing education in my profession, because I believe that my growth is also greatly beneficial to my clients. FEES: Sliding scale ranges from $35 - $95 per clinical hour. Payment is due when services are rendered unless other arrangements, noted below, or separately, have been mutually agreed upon. CANCELLATION POLICY: A 24-hour notice of appointment cancellation is required, to avoid being charged full fee for a missed appointment.

At the core of many personal issues lie old messages of your sense of worth. Those messages conveyed to you while growing-up that minimized your self-esteem. The journey inward toward your past can often be frightening and disheartening. By slowly revisiting the wounded part of yourself, old repetitive behaviors can cease to exist. A new sense of kindness toward yourself will begin to emerge. Allow me to travel with you to discover what is buried deep inside of your soul, exploring what keeps you from becoming all that you want to be.
