Personal Statement

Personal Statement:
My name is Sula Goldenberg and I am bilingual/bicultural (Spanish) Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist.

I focus on psychodynamic, cognitive and humanistic perspectives. My goal is to match my treatment to each client’s individual needs, combining various ways of looking at internal problems, offering counseling services that are based on the client’s strengths.

In a safe and supportive environment clients are able to explore options, learn practical tools and emerge from the transition with new skills, insights and personal growth.

I have experienced success working with multicultural issues within families, as they relate to parenting, life transitions, and intergenerational conflict. Other areas of my expertise include: adjustment disorders, ADHD, anxiety, depression, maternal and postpartum depression and grief and loss. I believe in the therapeutic process as a way to heal and develop a transformation for a more integrated and accepting sense of self.

At the core of many personal issues lie old messages of your sense of worth. Those messages conveyed to you while growing-up that minimized your self-esteem. The journey inward toward your past can often be frightening and disheartening. By slowly revisiting the wounded part of yourself, old repetitive behaviors can cease to exist. A new sense of kindness toward yourself will begin to emerge. Allow me to travel with you to discover what is buried deep inside of your soul, exploring what keeps you from becoming all that you want to be.
