Personal Statement

Personal Statement:
My name is Sunny Alexander and I have been in private practice since 1988. In addition to my private practice I provided on-site therapy and managed the Employee Assistance Program for a major corporation. In 1997 I received my Ph.D. in Psychoanalysis. This training has allowed me to deepen my understanding of long-term problems, while providing solution focused therapy. I have also been affiliated with a Community Mental Health Program that provides counseling to the homebound population. This program serves clients with agoraphobia, physical disabilities and life threatening illnesses. Recognizing the needs of the homebound population, I am pleased to now offer telephone counseling services to residents of California. At the core of many personal issues lie old messages of your sense of worth. Those messages conveyed to you while growing-up that minimized your self-esteem. The journey inward toward your past can often be frightening and disheartening. By slowly revisiting the wounded part of yourself, old repetitive behaviors can cease to exist. A new sense of kindness toward yourself will begin to emerge. Allow me to travel with you to discover what is buried deep inside of your soul, exploring what keeps you from becoming all that you want to be.
