Personal Statement

Personal Statement:
Susan Faurot MSC, LMFT is a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist. She ran a successful private practice in Orange county for 21 years and has been working in a department of psychiatry at Kaiser-Permanente for the last 8 years. She has extensive training and experience in Mindfulness Based Stress Reduction, Mindfulness Based Cognitive Therapy for Anxiety and Depression and Mindfulness and Compassion and has been leading groups utilizing these programs for the last 4 years. Susan is re-entering the world of private practice and is looking forward to helping others transform their lives through the cultivation of Mindfulness practices. Susan came to Mindfulness in 2007 after she was diagnosed with breast cancer. She began to meditate and found that having a daily contemplative practice helped sustain her in times of uncertainty, emotional suffering, and high anxiety. As time went on, Susan continued her meditative practice and began to study the art and science of teaching mindfulness to others. Susan has extensive experience in working with individuals and couples. She works with people who suffer from anxiety, depression, grief, medical illness, bipolar disorder and trauma. In addition to teaching the mindfulness programs, Susan has led groups for people with depression and bipolar disorder. She is accustomed to an integrative, mind-body approach to therapy and she is happy to work with a client’s other medical providers as well, in order to facilitate the best possible therapeutic support for each client. At the core of many personal issues lie old messages of your sense of worth. Those messages conveyed to you while growing-up that minimized your self-esteem. The journey inward toward your past can often be frightening and disheartening. By slowly revisiting the wounded part of yourself, old repetitive behaviors can cease to exist. A new sense of kindness toward yourself will begin to emerge. Allow me to travel with you to discover what is buried deep inside of your soul, exploring what keeps you from becoming all that you want to be.
