Personal Statement

Personal Statement:
I bring to my therapy practice a broad range of professional and personal experience. Over the years, as practitioner and parent, I have learned that the greatest healer is compassion, from which is born forgiveness. Positive changes come when a person is free of shame. Feeling free to be one's true self is the first step toward a healthier life.

Daniel Hughes cites four tools for therapy: playfulness, acceptance, curiosity and empathy. I agree with him, and I add a fifth: humor. We are all in need of a healthy dose, especially when we are feeling alone in our failures. Parents need humor in order to gain a more realistic perspective of themselves and their children. I provide this, along with a reassuring hug.

I understand the expense of raising children. I offer a sliding scale for my fee. No child should be denied help for lack of funds.
