Personal Statement

Personal Statement:
My name is Susanne Haas-Clark. I am a licensed Marriage and Family Therapist. I divide my time between my Private Practice and a local non-profit agency. I specialize in helping people who are suffering from the consequences of life-changing, possibly traumatic events in their lives. Such events may be domestic violence, divorce, illness, accidents, etc. I help my clients regain control over their lives as they are adjusting to new, sometimes confusing and frightening situations. I use sandtray and play therapy to help children express their hurt feelings and confusion. With adolescents and adults I use a client-centered approach, adding a variety of helpful tools to teach as needed in each individual case.

At the core of many personal issues lie old messages of your sense of worth. Those messages conveyed to you while growing-up that minimized your self-esteem. The journey inward toward your past can often be frightening and disheartening. By slowly revisiting the wounded part of yourself, old repetitive behaviors can cease to exist. A new sense of kindness toward yourself will begin to emerge. Allow me to travel with you to discover what is buried deep inside of your soul, exploring what keeps you from becoming all that you want to be.
