Personal Statement

Personal Statement:
"The soul loves to hear what it already knows." - Wayne Muller I often feel that my work as a psychotherapist is to help my clients listen deeply to their souls. In so doing, they rediscover what they already know and connect to their authenticity and wholeness. Having studied how the brain works, I have developed an enhanced understanding of how we get triggered and why we humans need constant reminders about what is important, what is sacred, and what path to follow. I especially enjoy collaborating with couples in creating the best approach to improved relationships, as it is in our primary relationship that we are most challenged to grow. The therapy shifts between day-to-day problem solving and improving communication, and exploring previous experiences of each partner that may be contributing to present-day behaviors. In addition to my private practice, I am an adjunct professor at the California Institute of Integral Studies.

Patricia Ravitz, M.A.

Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist
San Rafael, CA

My therapeutic style is non-judgmental, supportive, and interactive. My work is based on establishing a safe environment where trust can grow. I view symptoms as a way to call attention to unrecognized needs and unexpressed feelings. The goals of treatment include; learning to identify and express emotions, learning to set appropriate boundaries, developing skills such as self-soothing and impluse control and improving self-esteem.
