Personal Statement

Personal Statement:
I like to work with people who want to change their lives and are willing to take the necessary steps. My academic background and training include depth psychology, which helps tap and unravel the unconscious mind and brief, cognitive therapy for understanding and brief focussed therapy for quicker solutions...a dynamic combination in today's rapid, expensive world. As a psychotherapist and family court mediator, I work with individuals, couples, families and adolescents at risk, helping them solidify their identities and resolve conflicts. My years as a producer in the entertainment business prepared me to work with creative people wamting to develop their talent and careers. From directing the Alternatives to Violence Program for the past seven years, I have gained invaluable experience working with thousands of men and women with anger and addiction problems, and with victims of domestic violence and codependency issues. Communication skills, character development, perservance and choice motivated by the inner self are keys to fulfilling many life goals.

NOTE ON LANGUAGE SECTION: I have studied Spanish and French but am not fluent.

Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist
San Rafael, CA

My therapeutic style is non-judgmental, supportive, and interactive. My work is based on establishing a safe environment where trust can grow. I view symptoms as a way to call attention to unrecognized needs and unexpressed feelings. The goals of treatment include; learning to identify and express emotions, learning to set appropriate boundaries, developing skills such as self-soothing and impluse control and improving self-esteem.
