Personal Statement:
First things first. Good mental health is about balance. On a scale of 1 to 10, with 1 being completely open and emotionally available to people and 10 being closed and emotionally unavailable, where are you today? Where do you want to be? Learn what the 1’s and 10’s look, sound and feel like to yourself and to those around you. Learn what the 3 to 8 range is about, where the healthy balance is and how to get from a 9 to an 8. Second. How can you receive the good when your hands are clenched? What are you holding on to so tightly? What is the necessity of hanging on to it? What things do you need to let go of? What peace of mind can enter your life when you let go of anger? Healing begins with acceptance. Acceptance begins with letting go. Third. Therapy is sometimes about grieving the loss you have experienced in your life. Mourning the loss in ones life, whether it is of another person or of self or a relationship that someone thought they had, is a cornerstone of therapy. Positive and neutral approach, emotional honesty and effective communication are focus of my therapeutic style. Fourth. Are you in a stage of readiness? How much change are you really ready for? Therapy may be the place for you if you are ready to take responsibility and make positive changes in your life. If you are looking for balance and healing from the inside out this may be the time for you to engage in psychotherapy. Fifth. Visualize the words “In and Out”. Whether it is through drawing, painting, running, music or talking, humans are biologically designed to take information in and out. Often times, the release of emotions and thoughts is where people get stuck and relationships become more negative than positive. Discovering healthy and efficient ways to release and share these feelings is often times overwhelming. Too many times, people have spent their lives emotionally surviving and have yet to learn and practice emotional thriving. It is an honor to get to work with families, couples, individuals of all ages. Based on my experience, I see relationship conflicts, whether with family, friends or co-workers are a result of value systems clashing. I offer short term family therapy that allows families to practice efficient communication styles and respond to immediate feedback in the sessions. I offer co-parenting therapy for families that find themselves struggling with this challenge. I also work with individuals and families that have experienced trauma. I enjoy working with families with special needs family members as well as substance abuse and alcohol issues. I am a Veteran and have spent the last 22 years on and around military bases. I understand the military lifestyle and enjoy working with military families as well. I appreciate and work around people’s work schedules as well and am conveniently located in Joshua Tree, California.
