Professional Personal Statement I like meeting all kinds of people. A Marriage and Family Therapist for 20 years, concerned with people and their relationships, I work well with people of all ages and many different ethnic and religious backgrounds. My experience, professional and nonprofessional, tells me most problems people bring to therapy begin, or can best be solved, in their relationships. With clients, I am human before professional. We’re all in the same boat and sometimes need help rowing or steering. I have expert knowledge you may lack; you're the expert on yourself. We’ll collaborate to identify what you want help with, to set goals, and to achieve them. As partner in people’s efforts to learn and grow, I am optimistic and solution-oriented. Problems I treat include: effects of abuse or neglect; impact and roots of addiction; conflicts with others, and within yourself; power issues; painful emotions; lack of mutual respect or empathy; and poor communication. My great hope is that people grow: not just outgrow their problems, but grow into larger, better lives.
