Professional Personal Statement
David M. Dixon is a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist and Parent Educator. For the past six years he has coordinated treatment and supervised interns while providing direct services at Sierra Youth Center in Santa Rosa CA. Sierra is a residential treatment facility providing trauma based treatment for female adolescents adjudicated by the juvenile court. Prior to his work at Sierra Dave spent three years as part of the forensic mental health team in the Sonoma County Jail. As the clinical director for a certified batterer's program in San Francisco he developed curriculum to assess and treat perpetrators of domestic violence. He also provided outpatient psychoeducation and group counseling for those adults with substance abuse issues. Dave has an Adult Teaching Credential in the area(s) of Parent Education, Family Management and Human Development. As a consultant to an East Bay school district he developed and implemented a variety of student oriented programs. He was a featured speaker at the district's Parent University and provided faculty training for classroom behavior management. As clinical director in a non public school setting Dave supervised the provision of mental health services to learning disabled and emotionally disturbed students.
