Personal Statement

Personal Statement:
Are you dissatisfied with the amount of quality relationships in your life? Or, maybe your current relationship with an intimate partner, close friend, or family member feels difficult, leading to disappointment more often than excitement? Fulfilling relationships are essential to your well-being, and you deserve people close to you that inspire and encourage. In my work with individuals, I use 8 years of counseling experience and 14 years of mindfulness training to help you develop the social-emotional capacities and inner well-being you need to thrive in relationships. Our work together is to help you better understand habitual relationship challenges, and to gain the skills and emotional intelligence you need to become your "best" self in relationships. You can find more information about my work with individual clients here: www.timholtzmantherapy.com/relationship-challenges/ In my work with couples, I use a highly effective technique supported by 30 years of research called Emotionally Focused Therapy. With this approach, I help your relationship reestablish the close emotional and physical bond that first ignited your cherished union together. And I help you develop the emotional intelligence and effective communication skills needed to navigate through future challenges on your own, as a loving, united team. You can find more information about my work with couples here: www.timholtzmantherapy.com/couples-therapy/

Donna J. Shanahan, MA

Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist
Pasadena, CA 91101

I am a Marriage and Family therapist in private practice. I work with individuals, couples, and families in short and long-term psychotherapy. We work together to explore memories of the relational dynamics of the individual’s family, the feelings those dynamics created for the individual as a child, and how the individual now relates to those feelings and memories.
