Personal Statement

Personal Statement:
I am a Marriage and Family Therapist (MFT#89093), with a private practice in Toluca Lake, CA. I have a background with art and art therapy, along with 15-year history in corporate management. In 2009, I returned to graduate school and was grateful to attend a depth-oriented school, which taught soulful care, guidance from an internal place, an emphasis on imagery, and valuing walking into the unknown. At this time in my life, I felt the call to work full time in the community of emotional wellness, and have found that many areas of my past came, and aspects of myself came together. I feel an alignment, clarity, and "rightness" about the timing and the work. I work with individuals dealing with grief, purpose, loss, depression, anxiety; couples who want to improve communication; and with children and early teens to assist in improving a sense of identity, awareness, and self-esteem. This difficult and rewarding work can assist in living a more meaningful and authentic life. Suffering is a human quality that we cannot escape. It offers lessons that can increase our depth and compassion. Working through the dark areas can bring insight and new understanding. Working with dreams, art imagery, symbols, and journaling, are methods that can bring understanding and an improved sense of wholeness.

At the core of many personal issues lie old messages of your sense of worth. Those messages conveyed to you while growing-up that minimized your self-esteem. The journey inward toward your past can often be frightening and disheartening. By slowly revisiting the wounded part of yourself, old repetitive behaviors can cease to exist. A new sense of kindness toward yourself will begin to emerge. Allow me to travel with you to discover what is buried deep inside of your soul, exploring what keeps you from becoming all that you want to be.
