Personal Statement

Personal Statement:
For individuals, couples, and families, a psychotherapeutic experience is an opportunity to heal painful wounds, improved communication, discover why you face the same challenges over and over, and open yourself to new and better experiences. No matter the presenting concern: anxiety, depression, anger, loss, sexuality or any major life transition, psychotherapy can be an intensely rewarding and life altering process. The key to a successful therapeutic relationship is rapport. I enjoy working collaboratively with clients by exploring unconscious conflicts and developing insight into patterns of behavior. Clients are often able to move beyond vexing and disappointing experiences. The can work through painful and confusing feelings about themselves and others. I work from a psychodynamic perspective, incorporating some postmodern themes when helpful. I am a clinical supervisor at “The Maple Counseling Center” with experience teaching counseling and performing group therapy. Your financial concerns will be considered when establishing your fee.

My therapeutic style is non-judgmental, supportive, and interactive. My work is based on establishing a safe environment where trust can grow. I view symptoms as a way to call attention to unrecognized needs and unexpressed feelings. The goals of treatment include; learning to identify and express emotions, learning to set appropriate boundaries, developing skills such as self-soothing and impluse control and improving self-esteem.
