Personal Statement

Personal Statement:
I love being a therapist. Every day, I see people struggling to varying degrees with difficult life experiences, but even in their most vulnerable moments, people continue to astonish me with their courage, strength, and determination. I cannot help but feel hopeful as I am reminded of the vitality of the human spirit. Every individual who walks through my door is unique, and I want to honor that uniqueness by tailoring my approach to meet each individual’s needs. Some people come to therapy looking for support and help in a crisis while others are looking to make a major transformation in their way of being in the world. In addition, to different goals, each person brings different life experiences to the table. Thus, my approach to therapy is collaborative. You are the expert of your life, and my role is to help you understand and make sense of your experiences in a supportive and nurturing environment. Together we will explore your needs and desires and identify the obstacles that are getting in the way of those needs and desires being met.

Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist

My therapeutic style is non-judgmental, supportive, and interactive. My work is based on establishing a safe environment where trust can grow. I view symptoms as a way to call attention to unrecognized needs and unexpressed feelings. The goals of treatment include; learning to identify and express emotions, learning to set appropriate boundaries, developing skills such as self-soothing and impluse control and improving self-esteem.
