Personal Statement

Personal Statement:
Many of my clients struggle with anxiety issues including racing thoughts, social anxiety and panic attacks. I also support individuals who have experienced traumatic events and are struggling with distressing and intrusive memories. A focus of my practice is working with men around sexuality issues such as sexual performance, sex addiction, and sexual behavior that feels out of control. My approach to therapy is warm, direct, and active. You and I will work as a team to establish your goals for therapy and target ways that you can spend less time struggling with challenging thoughts and feelings and more time living your life. We’ll focus on helping you feel more confident and identifying tools to handle whatever life throws your way. I became a therapist because I really do believe that positive change and growth are possible and that we all can live richer, fuller lives. If you want to learn more about how I can help, send me a message or visit my website. I look forward to working with you.

Donna J. Shanahan, MA

Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist
Pasadena, CA 91101

I am a Marriage and Family therapist in private practice. I work with individuals, couples, and families in short and long-term psychotherapy. We work together to explore memories of the relational dynamics of the individual’s family, the feelings those dynamics created for the individual as a child, and how the individual now relates to those feelings and memories.
