Personal Statement

Personal Statement:
I specialize in working with clients who have a variety of medical conditions, including neurological disorders, physically disabling conditions, aging-related conditions and other impairments. My clients also include Caregivers and LGBT persons who live with a disabling condition. For over 25 years I have helped adults with both emotional and logistical concerns related to chronic medical and aging-related conditions, including short and long term care planning, and adults with a variety of life issues, including relationship and communication problems, depression, anxiety, and low self-esteem. I hold a Master of Science degree in Rehabilitation Counseling and am a Nationally Certified Rehabilitation Counselor (certified 1986), as well as a California licensed Marriage & Family Therapist (licensed 1989). Please see my website for more information about how I may be of help to you. Where do you turn for help if you are: - Physically disabled with a neurological condition such as Multiple Sclerosis, Muscular Dystrophy, Huntington’s Disease, Parkinson’s Disease, stroke, traumatic brain injury or spinal cord injury? - Diagnosed with cognitive impairment such as early stage or early onset Alzheimer’s Disease, Lewy Body Dementia, Vascular Dementia, other dementing condition or traumatic brain injury? - A disabled LGBT person? - A Caregiver and/or family member of a loved one with a physical disability or a cognitive impairment? As a California licensed Marriage & Family Therapist, and a nationally Certified Rehabilitation Counselor, I work with clients throughout California via telemedicine sessions. Telemedicine sessions are conducted via videoconferencing, similar to Skype but HIPAA-compliant*, and/or over the telephone. The videoconferencing software is free and is easy to use on your computer or tablet. Telemedicine offers important advantages over in-office sessions to people who: - No longer drive or have limited access to transportation - Are physically disabled and have mobility issues - Have busy schedules - Have no professionals in their area with the particular expertise I offer Please contact me to discuss whether telemedicine sessions are appropriate for you and your needs. You can also learn more about telemedicine at my website:

At the core of many personal issues lie old messages of your sense of worth. Those messages conveyed to you while growing-up that minimized your self-esteem. The journey inward toward your past can often be frightening and disheartening. By slowly revisiting the wounded part of yourself, old repetitive behaviors can cease to exist. A new sense of kindness toward yourself will begin to emerge. Allow me to travel with you to discover what is buried deep inside of your soul, exploring what keeps you from becoming all that you want to be.
