Personal Statement

Personal Statement:
I believe in a form of therapy that emphasizes practical applications and solutions to problems. This includes forming partnerships with clients in order to consider options, make plans and address critical issues that are important to the task of therapy. Using humor, creating a safe and relaxed environment, considering the “whole person” in terms of physical, emotional and spiritual issues are also important elements to the form of therapy that I use.

I have worked for 19 years with children, adolescents and families. For many years I worked in pastoral ministry with teens and children. Since 2000 I have worked with a non-profit organization as an Intern and then as a Licensed MFT. In addition, I have supervised a number of Interns and MFTs for this same non-profit organization. In this capacity, I have led workshops, spoken at conferences and performed consultation services for local schools.

At the core of many personal issues lie old messages of your sense of worth. Those messages conveyed to you while growing-up that minimized your self-esteem. The journey inward toward your past can often be frightening and disheartening. By slowly revisiting the wounded part of yourself, old repetitive behaviors can cease to exist. A new sense of kindness toward yourself will begin to emerge. Allow me to travel with you to discover what is buried deep inside of your soul, exploring what keeps you from becoming all that you want to be.
