Take the first step. Contact me today to set up an appointment for a free 30 minute consultation! I am a licensed Marriage and Family Therapist (California MFC License #48558). Born and raised in Switzerland, I lived in the U.K. for a while before moving to San Diego on my own in 1992. The challenges and changes I faced have given me unique perspectives, insights, and experiences. Some of them are managing change, facing adverse situations, jump-starting and maintaining motivation, achieving emotional well-being, facing life transitions, and navigating layered cultural issues. Professionally, I am a seasoned clinician, clinical supervisor, and consultant & trainer. I have experience working with schools and community agencies, alcohol & drug treatment facilities, and residential treatment centers. I have worked with civilian and military individuals, couples, and families. My approach to therapy is based in a client centered, trauma informed, and culturally sensitive framework that draws from a variety of theoretical orientations. My treatment is individually tailored to each client. I may draw from Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Solution Focused Brief Therapy (SFBT), or Humanistic modes to meet your needs and achieve your goals. I am trained in Motivational Interviewing, Seeking Safety Treatment, Substance Abuse and Co-Occurring Conditions, as well as LGBTQ related issues. When not seeing clients in private practice, I work for a 24-hour children’s emergency shelter. In addition, I am actively involved in and a trainer for the County of San Diego CADRE initiative (Change Agents Developing Recovery Excellence), which is committed to improving the lives of people with mental health and addiction problems. I provide trainings and presentations on mental health, co-occurring conditions, and treatment approaches to service providers, guest lecture at University of Southern California (USC) School of Social Work, supervise MFT Interns off site, and provide business consulting for individuals and organizations. I am a clinical member of the California Association of Marriage and Family Therapists (CAMFT). In everything I approach, my firm belief is that knowledge is power - especially when that power comes from within and drives actions. Prior to becoming a psychotherapist, my career path included positions with a variety of startup companies, executive positions in marketing, private education, and nonprofit consulting. In addition to a Master’s degree in Counseling Psychology, I hold a Master’s degree in E-Commerce, and a Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration. This combination of education and experience, as well as exposure to different perspectives and mindsets, has allowed me to successfully relate to clients from varied backgrounds.

Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist
Redding, CA 96001

Approximately half of Dr. Copitch's practice involves children and families. The other half is devoted to individual therapy. And, as Dr. Copitch often jokes, "the third half of my work is devoted to school consultations, business consultations, and corporate trainings."
