Personal Statement

Personal Statement:
I work with individual adults and couples. My marital and couples work incorporates the work of John Gottman, Susan Johnson, and Dan Wile. My style is active and directive, empathetic and compassionate.I often give homework for people to work on between sessions.I do "depth work": Understanding what each person's deepest wishes, fears, and longings. Identifying "core issues" and healing them is an important part of my work. I use Focusing, a technique developed by Eugene Gendlin, to assist people in identifying and healing, at a bodily level, their own core beliefs and truths. I also do Lifespan Integration, a method for trauma and early attachment issues. My couples work focuses on each partner empathizing with himself/herself and with his/her partner; and on "staying on your own side" as well as seeing your partner's point of view.
