Personal Statement

Personal Statement:
"Be the change you ask for in others". You can't actually change others, but they do change when you do. Make this the year that you finally succeed in making effective changes in your life. There is tremendous value in talking through your ideas, problems, and feelings with someone who has experience and training to understand what you are going through. Starting the process of counseling with a therapist can be both empowering and frightening. I am very aware of the feelings that may be coming to the surface as you begin your journey of empowerment, discovery and healing. Why is love something we seem to practice only when Hallmark tells us to? We can have happier marriages, children, and lives in general if we make loving our selves and our partner a year-round event? Let's make 2015 THE year when you make love a top priority!

About My Practice

Office Hours
Mon - Fri 9:00am - 7:00 pm Sat By arrangement
The first step in finding relief from suffering is telling our stories. Often we don’t feel safe sharing with others our deep and vulnerable thoughts and feelings. I offer a warm, caring professionalism that allows you to feel safe, heard and understood, and guide you to your own inner power to make changes in your life, find and utilize your own talents, and achieve your goals. I have extensive experience working with individuals, couples and families who are survivors of trauma, including sexual abuse, families in transition due to divorce or grief and loss, acute and chronic illness, and domestic abuse. I conduct "Hold Me Tight, Conversations For Connection" - marriage workshops, parenting, anger management, and various empowerment groups. I have worked with a variety of people from all walks of life. Over the years I have discovered that some of the people who are most drawn to me seek help with traumatic events/news, depression and anxiety. Having personally learned to transform these energies within myself, I know what it’s like to battle with such emotions. I find that the mindfulness techniques I practice are most effective in working with these emotions, and tailor my approach to each individual.

I know it can be scary to reach out for help, especially in a culture that tells us we should be able to solve our problems on our own and, if we can’t, there is something wrong with us. Well, I’m here to challenge that culture that values independence more than interdependence, because as humans we are designed to be connected with others in relationships. And sometimes the first relationship that needs our focused attention is the one we have with ourselves in order to ‘show up’ in our relationships with others.
