Personal Statement

Personal Statement:
I am a Licensed Martial and Family Therapist. I have over 10 years of working with individuals and couples. My approach to therapy is caring, active, and supportive. My style is gentle and directive, insightful and practical. I work with individuals to identify dysfunctional reoccurring patterns that are holding you back, and help you change the way you look at yourself and relate to others in a healthier way. I also focus on stress management and helping you create a healthy balance in your life. I work with couples to develop increased intimacy, communication and connectedness in their relationships, utilizing attachment theory to bring couples closer together. Helping couples to understand each other and communicate better is the foundation for a healthy, intimate and fulfilling relationship. I am competent in treating alcohol and drug dependency and co-occurring mood disorders, including anxiety, depression and bipolar episodes. I help clients discover the deeper roots of their addiction in order to address their core issues, which in turn will help them succeed in their recovery. I also address how chemical dependency affects the family and the role the family plays in the addiction pattern. I also am certified in EMDR Therapy. This stands for Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing Therapy. It is a specific evidenced based therapy that reduces PTSD, phobias, panic and trauma. It is a combined approach of several therapies including psychodynamic, experiential, and body based therapies to decrease the trauma that underlies many pathologies. It helps you identify negative core beliefs about yourself along with reprocessing disturbing memories and thoughts in a short amount of time, to decrease panic, anxiety and depression. It provides profound, stable, long-term treatment effects. These methods when applied lead to an improved overall sense of well-being and relational harmony. Please feel free to contact me with any questions you may have.
