Personal Statement

Personal Statement:
Do painful experiences from your past interfere with living the life that you desire? Are you tired of feeling depressed, anxious, insecure, afraid, or hopeless? Are you using unhealthy ways to cope, such as excessive eating, drinking, drug use, sexual addiction, or other destructive behaviors? Is it difficult for you to truly experience and receive love into your life? Are you ready for a change? I can help you to resolve past memories and break free from the grip that they have on you. We will work together to reprocess troubling memories, so that they no longer cause you pain or distress. You will learn to live in the moment; finding happiness, joy, and freedom. Through our work together, you will discover your authentic self and love yourself completely. There is life beyond trauma and destructive/addictive behaviors. You are capable of living the life you dream of. You don’t have to continue suffering. I offer a safe place for you to heal your emotional pain, let go of your past, learn healthy ways to cope with your feelings, and truly love yourself as you are.

Donna J. Shanahan, MA

Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist
Pasadena, CA 91101

I am a Marriage and Family therapist in private practice. I work with individuals, couples, and families in short and long-term psychotherapy. We work together to explore memories of the relational dynamics of the individual’s family, the feelings those dynamics created for the individual as a child, and how the individual now relates to those feelings and memories.
