Personal Statement

Personal Statement:
I am a Christ-centered marriage and family therapist with 15 years of experience working with adults, children, and adolescents, in individual, marital and family work. I provide trauma resolution and EMDR for adults and children. I lived overseas for six years and have extensive experience working with missionaries in re-entry, as well as pastors and people in ministry.

I work from a strengths-based paradigm, looking not just for the problem or pathology, but also for the strengths in a person’s life, and building upon that. I love to see a person grow to greater wholeness and greater awareness of his or her value, and to move into living life more fully.

Some specific areas I work with: Children and families in adoption; Children of divorce; Abuse and trauma recovery; Life Transitions; anxiety, depression and assertiveness training; Adult children of alcoholics; daily life struggles.

At the core of many personal issues lie old messages of your sense of worth. Those messages conveyed to you while growing-up that minimized your self-esteem. The journey inward toward your past can often be frightening and disheartening. By slowly revisiting the wounded part of yourself, old repetitive behaviors can cease to exist. A new sense of kindness toward yourself will begin to emerge. Allow me to travel with you to discover what is buried deep inside of your soul, exploring what keeps you from becoming all that you want to be.
