Personal Statement

Personal Statement:
Everybody's got healing work to do; and coming to counseling is one great investment to help yourself step through old barriers into a sweeter, more empowered life. Of course, fear and shame is what stops most people from picking up the phone and daring to connect with a skilled, dedicated counselor. I believe the rewards are worth the risk. And I offer a sliding fee scale to make the investment possible when I can. I also believe you deserve to shop around; so I make myself available for in-depth phone interviews, and welcome one-time office consultations. People know instinctively when it's safe to take risks and start healing. My first concern is in collaborating with you on a warm, trustable relationship. Together, we explore--and sometimes challenge! -- your old beliefs, your unfolding life, your important stories, and their spiritual and practical implications. We work with several flexible modes, grounded in archetypal and depth pscyhology: cognitive/behavioral explorations, examining and revising your important life-stories, dream tending, voice and movement exercises to find your personal power and your authentic voice. Mostly we talk. (Occasionally we throw pillows.) Sometimes artists and writers bring in projects. I work closely with adjunctive specialists in Somatic Experiencing and spiritual and transpersonal counseling. I am a writer and musician myself; artists, other therapists are welcome. Come discover your authentic voice, whether it be as a counselor, an artist, or a person journeying to greater strength and peace.
