Personal Statement

Personal Statement:
I am a therapist at, and the Co-Director of, the Center for Creative Growth, based in Berkeley. At the Center, we believe that every situation, every experience -- no matter now difficult, painful, or "stuck" it may be -- holds within it the opportunity for creative growth. We utilize methods to heal the inner child, family-of-origin pain, codependency, and shame. Plain and simple: we get results.

Our Center provides a unique counseling service for people who want to make changes in their life, their relationships, and their relationship to life. We serve people with a variety of sexual orientations, from all age groups and ethnic backgrounds.

Our staff consists of therapists who bring to their work a commitment to your unique process and a deep understanding of the principles of growth and change. Our focus is to resolve the issues that bring you to counseling and to help you establish or reestablish your life as a thriving process.

Our counseling acts to enliven and release the forces of positive growth already present within you. Jason and the Center's orientation emphasizes John Bradshaw's nationally acclaimed teachings, and integrates a humanistic/transpersonal and family systems perspective with grounding in the 12-step approach to recovery. In addition to verbal forms of therapy, we utilize symbolic methods (dreamwork, art, psychodrama, and sandtray therapy) that gently yet dramatically create change by tapping directly into the unconscious.

What Jason Says About Being A Therapist:

It is a total privilege for me to work with people as their therapist. To share in people's lives in this way, and to assist them to heal old wounds and create new lives, is a gift for both of us. I know from my own life experience and from working with countless others, that we have the capacity to change and grow, to resolve and heal the issues that haunt us.

At the core of many personal issues lie old messages of your sense of worth. Those messages conveyed to you while growing-up that minimized your self-esteem. The journey inward toward your past can often be frightening and disheartening. By slowly revisiting the wounded part of yourself, old repetitive behaviors can cease to exist. A new sense of kindness toward yourself will begin to emerge. Allow me to travel with you to discover what is buried deep inside of your soul, exploring what keeps you from becoming all that you want to be.
