Personal Statement

Personal Statement:
I bring over 30 years of experience as a helping professional into our client-therapist relationship. I began my career as a maternal child nurse and practiced hospital-based nursing for over 15 years. I fell in love with the psychosocial part of nursing which lead me to return to school and earn a Master of Science Degree in Clinical Counseling Psychology in 2002. I have combined by professional experiences, creating a biopsychosocial foundation, which focuses on treating my client's minds, bodies and spirits. You will reap the rewards of working with a therapist who is also a hospital-based medical social worker, well connected with community resources and trained to deal with crisis situations, grief, substance abuse, anxiety, depression, domestic violence and adoption planning. In addition, I have dedicated over 100 hours to training in Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT), which offers a comprehensive theory of adult love and attachment, as well as empirically tested interventions to reduce distress and create stronger and more secure attachment bonds in your relationships.

About My Practice

Office Hours
Wednesday day and evening appointments. Monday, Thursday and Friday evenings.
Services
Provide counseling for teens, adults, couples and families. I will approach our work together using relational, experiential "here and now", and family systems methods with a theoretical perspective in attachment theory. I will work together with you toward achieving the "nurturant solace" offered by close relationships that has been shown to protect us from physical and emotional disease, and improve our internal resilience. Because we experience the world through our relationships, I bring over 100 hours of advanced training in EFT (www.iceeft.com) into our professional relationship and use this evidence-based process to help heal your distressed relationships!

At the core of many personal issues lie old messages of your sense of worth. Those messages conveyed to you while growing-up that minimized your self-esteem. The journey inward toward your past can often be frightening and disheartening. By slowly revisiting the wounded part of yourself, old repetitive behaviors can cease to exist. A new sense of kindness toward yourself will begin to emerge. Allow me to travel with you to discover what is buried deep inside of your soul, exploring what keeps you from becoming all that you want to be.
