Personal Statement

Personal Statement:
I am particularly interested in helping clients integrate the effects of rapid spiritual development, catalyzed by non-ordinary states of consciousness, including the transformational effects of meditation and spiritual practice, breathwork, spontaneous opening, grief, depression, post-traumatic stress, dissociation, substance use and addiction, and energy release phenomena. I believe that the most powerful ‘therapists’ in the one inside each of us. My experience has shown me that in order for therapy to be successful, both the client and the professional therapist must find ways of listening to and following the unique directives of this inner healer. I have been trained in many different therapeutic approaches and also worked for nine years in a residential substance abuse recovery center. I have often worked as a ‘therapist’s therapist’ doing both in-person and telephone supervision for therapists wanting to explore the interplay of clients issues regarding ethics in non-ordinary states, kundalini, addiction, and trauma recovery. I have written some books, including The Ethics of Caring.

At the core of many personal issues lie old messages of your sense of worth. Those messages conveyed to you while growing-up that minimized your self-esteem. The journey inward toward your past can often be frightening and disheartening. By slowly revisiting the wounded part of yourself, old repetitive behaviors can cease to exist. A new sense of kindness toward yourself will begin to emerge. Allow me to travel with you to discover what is buried deep inside of your soul, exploring what keeps you from becoming all that you want to be.
