Personal Statement

Personal Statement:
My practice began in 1970 as an Art Therapist, and I have continued to utilize a creative approach in the therapy process. My basic assumption is that we are all born with the innate wisdom and potential for healthy growth and development, and the primary root causes of suffering result from living in environments that are stress-related or trauma based. Therefore, in addition to responding to the immediate needs that a client presents, I work towards developing skills to discharge the buildup of stress and trauma: always towards the reintegration of mind, body, and soul. I also believe we learn and grow through actual expereince; my sessions are often 90 minutes, so as to allow time for talking, experiencing and processing. After 30 years in this field, I continue to feel energized by the personal interactions and impressed with a deep regard of life's issues.

At the core of many personal issues lie old messages of your sense of worth. Those messages conveyed to you while growing-up that minimized your self-esteem. The journey inward toward your past can often be frightening and disheartening. By slowly revisiting the wounded part of yourself, old repetitive behaviors can cease to exist. A new sense of kindness toward yourself will begin to emerge. Allow me to travel with you to discover what is buried deep inside of your soul, exploring what keeps you from becoming all that you want to be.
