Personal Statement:
If you are tired of how you feel when you wake up each day, I can offer you some help. If you are tired of arguing, tired of listening to your own mind's repetitious menu of negativity and self criticism, tired of the memories that won't give you peace, I'm here to tell you that you don't have to live that way. You deserve the chance to be free of the past, the hurts and disappointments that you carry around with you. You deserve the chance to be free of your inner critic, free of the thoughts that bring you down each day. Free to love each other in peace and harmony, free to have an open heart like you did before life took its toll. In my practice I partner with you to discover your unique path to healing and work with you to build a different way of looking at life and your place in it. In our partnership we will work to free you from the memories and scars that may be causing you to experience trauma symptoms such as nightmares, intrusive thoughts about traumatic events, avoiding situations that bring up bad memories, and so forth. I will work with you intensively on new ways to cope, on advanced communication skills, on the complex but enriching ways to be in partnership with another that you may have never experienced. If events in your early life are affecting you and your ability to find and sustain healthy relationships, I offer you an opportunity to interrupt the repeating patterns that have prevented you from having the peace and joy and companionship you've longed for. Or if you simply want to feel better, we can work on that, as well. I can work with you individually or as a couple. I will introduce you to to a mindfulness approach to trauma recovery and relationship work. I can offer you treatment with Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Couples counseling, EMDR (eye movement desensitization & reprocessing) if needed, and stress reduction and relaxation techniques, and more. I offer individual and couples counseling and psychotherapy for adults and seniors. My specialties are: 1) relationship counseling including LGBTQ couples and pre-marriage counseling, and 2) trauma recovery therapy, including early childhood abuse, accidents, disasters, victims of crime and combat and deployment related trauma. Sometimes people need both.
