Personal Statement

Personal Statement:
I am an experienced psychotherapist and a recognized expert in the area of relationships. For over twenty years, I have helped people change their relationships—both with others and with themselves—and find greater peace and happiness. Relationships are the bedrock of emotional health, and yet relationships can cause great suffering when they aren’t going well. You may be experiencing anxiety, worries, agitation, sleeplessness, general unhappiness, hopelessness or anger as a result of difficult relationships in love, work, family or friendship. You may be suffering from a broken heart or some other deep loss. Or you may be entrenched in a difficult relationship with yourself, leading to severe self criticism or loss of your creativity. Together we will explore your difficulties, by discussing them and exploring your view of the problem. We will clarify your values, feelings, desires, all the while helping you to find emotional meaning. We begin by talking about whatever most concerns you when you come into the session. Using warmth, compassion, intuition, creativity and gentle humor, and through careful attunement to your experience, I will help you to understand and resolve your relationship difficulties with the goal of finding greater joy and meaning in your life. I provide a safe, spontaneous and receptive atmosphere. I artfully use the findings in neuroscience to help you actually develop new patterns of relating. As a result of our work together, I expect that your relationships will improve, that you will feel calmer, more compassionate toward yourself and others, more grounded, and more competent and joyful in the world. Offices in San Francisco and Kentfield, California.
