Personal Statement

Personal Statement:
As a therapist, I see my role as being able to awaken possibility within others, helping them to not just survive a challenging situation but discover something about themselves in the process that allows for more authentic and purposeful living. An important part of coping with challenges is gaining an understanding of established patterns or negative perceptions that may be impacting one’s approach to a current situation. We tend to carry forward patterns of relating to others that we developed early in life. Some of those patterns will predictably be intensified during periods of uncertainty and stress, resulting in emotional and physical symptoms. While I do not believe that therapy necessarily must involve delving into the past and over-analyzing it, I do believe that an understanding of how the past has shaped our present is relevant in order to find practical solutions to contemporary problems. My goal is to help you uncover what may be holding you back from experiencing a more fulfilling and meaningful life. Drawing on an early career in the corporate world, where my primary role was to motivate people and prepare them for change, I am passionate about helping others successfully navigate the inevitable transitions of life. The threads of formal education and training, together with life experience, compassion for others, and an abiding faith in the resiliency of the human spirit, have become the fabric of a long-held dream to pursue this sacred calling. With deep respect for all persons and the unique challenges they present, I collaborate with my clients to help them discover strengths and resources on which to build in order to create the future they desire.

At the core of many personal issues lie old messages of your sense of worth. Those messages conveyed to you while growing-up that minimized your self-esteem. The journey inward toward your past can often be frightening and disheartening. By slowly revisiting the wounded part of yourself, old repetitive behaviors can cease to exist. A new sense of kindness toward yourself will begin to emerge. Allow me to travel with you to discover what is buried deep inside of your soul, exploring what keeps you from becoming all that you want to be.
