Personal Statement

Personal Statement:
I began my professional life as a junior high school teacher. During my first teaching assignment, I was asked to work with the drug involved kids at the school; in other words, I assumed many counseling responsibilities without being a school counselor. And so, I went back to school and became a school counselor. I counseled at the junior high school level for several years and then transferred to the high school level when I was again in school earning a Masters in Counseling and preparing for my state board exams. I had two excellent internships in private practice and was invited to become a partner with my primary supervisor after I passed my exams. I have always loved kids (and have two boys of my own), and as my students grew older and would continuously seek my advice and/or insight, I realized I had a calling. I work with adolescents, young adults, married couples, unmarried couples...a rather broad range. My purpose is to minimize pain through insights and expression, active listening and communication skills.

Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist
Carlsbad, CA

I provide a therapeutic environment that allows individuals and couples to explore ideas, beliefs, life experiences, thoughts and feelings that may stand in the way of being who you truly want to be. I can help point out repeating dysfunctional patterns that may exsist in relationships at home, at work and with friends and family.I teach people how to respond in their lives versus getting caught in reacting to personalities and events.
