Personal Statement

Personal Statement:
My perspective is that human sexuality and difficulties can be an opportunity to better understand and develop other apparently unrelated aspects of our lives. My focus is on helping couples and individuals balance their needs for autonomy and connection in order to “grow themselves up.”

I work with men and women around a variety of sexual issues, including desire discrepancy, sexual dysfunction, affairs, and internet pornography. Additional I lead sexuality groups for women.

In addition to my license as a Marriage and Family Therapist, I am certified as a sex therapist with the American Association of Sex Educators Counselors and Therapists. I have trained extensively with Ellyn Bader and Peter Pearson of the Couples Institute and with David Schnarch, author of Passionate Marriage.

At the core of many personal issues lie old messages of your sense of worth. Those messages conveyed to you while growing-up that minimized your self-esteem. The journey inward toward your past can often be frightening and disheartening. By slowly revisiting the wounded part of yourself, old repetitive behaviors can cease to exist. A new sense of kindness toward yourself will begin to emerge. Allow me to travel with you to discover what is buried deep inside of your soul, exploring what keeps you from becoming all that you want to be.
