Personal Statement

Personal Statement:
I approach therapy from a holistic perspective, utilizing empathy, mindfulness, somatics and in the moment experience to maximize therapeutic gains. I have extensive experience working with anxiety, trauma, relationship concerns, and gender exploration, as well as in working with the following communities: same-sex (gay, bi or queer), transgender and gender non-conforming, polyamory, freak, kink, etc., although my actual practice is very diverse and I see a broad spectrum of clients. I utilize complexity theories and an integrated, relational stance to incorporate mind, body and spiritual experiences in my work, something that I believe speeds up healing more quickly than words alone.

Donna J. Shanahan, MA

Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist
Pasadena, CA 91101

I am a Marriage and Family therapist in private practice. I work with individuals, couples, and families in short and long-term psychotherapy. We work together to explore memories of the relational dynamics of the individual’s family, the feelings those dynamics created for the individual as a child, and how the individual now relates to those feelings and memories.
