Personal Statement

Personal Statement:
Entering therapy can be daunting and requires the courage to be vulnerable, however it is in this vulnerability where we can truly begin to connect to others on a meaningful level and feel passionate about our lives. As a clinician I see my role as an expert merely in the counseling process, which I use to compassionately guide you to your own answers. Using my training and knowledge I will work collaboratively with you to identify what will be most effective and capitalize on your innate strengths. In line with this philosophy, I have chosen to train in a variety of modalities to better serve your own unique needs. I have been trained in Play Therapy, Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT), Parent-Child Interaction Therapy (PCIT), and Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR). I enjoy working with children, adolescents, adults, and families to address a wide variety of needs. I specialize in addressing issues of trauma, anxiety, depression, adjustment difficulties, and relational concerns. I am committed to improving the community and spreading hope. I volunteer with The Red Cross to provide disaster mental health services, and volunteer with the California Association of Marriage and Family Therapists (CAMFT) to lobby on behalf of increased access to mental health care. I have been a member of the California Association of Marriage and Family Therapists since 2012, and served on the board for the Sacramento Valley Chapter from 2014-2016. I truly believe in the power of kindness to make positive changes. I look forward to meeting you and supporting you in reaching your goals! For more information please visit coffillcounseling.com
